WCML Over Shap Scenario Pack 2 (1996 – 2001)

Description:

The iconic West Coast Mainline (WCML) is the UK’s busiest mainline conveying all types of traffic from high speed passenger services to slow engineer’s trains between London in the south to Glasgow in the north, with branches to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, North Wales and Edinburgh.

 

This scenario pack contains ten scenarios set between 1996 and 2001 when the UK rail network was beginning to be privatised. Take control of a wide range of stock from the Class 31 to the Class 37 to the famous Class 43 HST on a variety of service types – mostly freight – between Preston and Carlisle on the WCML Over Shap route by Keith Ross on Steam.

Engineering work has closed the line between Carnforth and Oxenholme, with a shuttle service operating from Carlisle. Drive the first southbound shuttle service from Carlisle, starting empty at Penrith. Traction: Class 43 HST. Year: 1996.

 

2C71 0532 Preston to Carnforth

You’re up early to start a northbound stopping service out of Preston. This service would normally run to Morecambe. However, due to Morecambe being closed, you’re running to Carnforth today, reversing at Bare Lane. Traction: Class 142. Year: 2001.

 

2C73 2248 Oxenholme to Morecambe

Tonight, you’ll be driving a stopping service from Oxenholme to Morecambe, reversing at Lancaster. Be aware of temporary speed restrictions en-route. Traction: Class 142. Year: 1996.

 

4M06 1003 Falkland to Bescot

New HTA hoppers have recently been delivered to transport coal over the National Network. This morning, drive an empty southbound coal working from Kingmoor towards Preston. Traction: Class 66. Year: 2001.

 

6C25 0715 Penrith to Carlisle

Deliver a load of rails and sleepers from the engineering sidings at Penrith to Kingmoor Yard before stabling at Carlisle station. Traction: Class 37. Year: 1997.

 

6C85 1438 Longtown MoD to Carlisle

Starting at Longtown MoD near Gretna, deliver a load of mixed wagons to Kingmoor Yard before stabling at Carlisle station. Traction: Class 37. Year: 1997.

 

6N56 1450 Carnforth to Preston

A possession between Carnforth and Oxenholme has been taken for engineering work. Take away a train of empty ballast hoppers from the possession to Preston, where you’ll shunt them into the engineering sidings. Traction: Class 56. Year: 1998.

 

7C02 1020 Shap to Carnforth

Take charge of a loaded ballast train from the quarry at Shap to the engineering sidings at Carnforth. Traction: Class 31. Year: 1997.

 

7C37 0900 Carlisle to Annan Part 1

A possession between Dumfries and Annan has been taken so engineering work can be undertaken. Deliver a load of fresh ballast from Carlisle to Annan station to ballast hopper operatives can board the train. Traction: Class 37. Year: 1997.

 

7C37 0900 Carlisle to Annan Part 2

After the ballast operatives have boarded, discharge it in the possession. Traction: Class 37. Year: 1997.
